About me
Hi! My name is Dr. Wajiha and Butter Over Bae is my little corner on the internet! I am hoping to bond with you over the love of good food, and of course even better vibes!
On the expense of sounding like an absolute narc, I am gonna go ahead and ramble a bit about myself ok? I am a dentist by profession, currently on a hiatus from that life. Also a wife to this annoyingly endearing man standing right next to me (think of us as 2 wrestlers always in the ring). What else? oh ya, I am originally from Pakistan, and at the moment residing in Saudi Arabia. Dark Chocolates, a Christopher Nolan movie and a snuggle blanket is my IDEAL evening.
If you come from a brown family, you know we are bigggggg on families! Like literally and emotionally. So you can imagine, we are pretty tight. Mom, Dad, Chacha, Chachi (paternal uncle and aunt) they are pretty much my strong pillars.
We are also BIG on food! (yeah like I need to tell you that). I would throw parties for my friends and family and then spam my facebook with all the food photos. I mean they loved the food, but there was a point in time when my Fb had more pictures of food and set ups than me and actual people! So by 2018, my best friend convinced (read:forced) me to start a food page. That’s when I made this blog for documenting all my culinary adventures, kitchen hacks and party set ups that I do.
What you’ll find on Butter Over Bae
I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my blog or recipes. I obsess over every recipe before I put it up (which sometimes means, weeks and weeks of trials and retests). The only reason I tell you this, is because I know, ingredients and time, both are important resources, and I don’t want to see you waste any of them on a half-perfected recipe. As someone who has suffered, at the hands of random half-thought recipes online, I feel your pain, and I would never want to be the person who does that!
- Pakistani Recipes – Given that I am a Pakistani, this is a first and foremost a Pakistani Food blog, with a natural overlap with North Indian recipes.
- Universal Desserts – I have a bit of sweet tooth problem and a craving for all kinds of desserts! So my dessert collection is more global, including cakes, and quick no bakes.
- Indo-Chinese Recipes – Another Cuisine that I love to experiment with regularly. These are quick to make recipes, and are perfect for hosting!
- Some global favorites – I hardly put up recipes from other Cuisines, but some recipes become a family favorite, like fish burgers, and then I end up putting it up here for ya’all to enjoy.
I’ve spent 20 years in the Middle East and a lil less than a decade back home. So ya, you’ll find a fair share of South Asian and Middle Eastern food in the mix on the blog. I am not really sure what else to tell you, not the best on self-evaluation. I am usually always hanging around on Insta, if you feel like connecting. You can also click here to get in touch. Feel free to roam around the site and let me know what you think about it! Have an awesome day!
